The Tea a Weekly Series News Happenings and Sales

Happy Friday and welcome to another edition of The Tea. The Tea is a weekly series where I dish on current happenings and upcoming sales. Why The Tea? Tea is slang for gossip or information, and I have so much beyond fashion to share with you and iced tea is my favorite drink. So here is what is on my mind this week…

Thanksgiving

Thanksgiving is looming on the horizon, so of course, food and shopping are on my mind. Mmm…that could be any week of the year. Food and shopping are always on my mind. Anywhoo, I am not a cook, and I am forever grateful to the people who relieve me of that holiday duty. My job is to bring the pies, and I can handle that perfectly. By handle, I mean pick up at my local market.

Say No to Stores Opening on Thanksgiving

Black Friday deals are also on my mind. I am a firm believer that stores should NOT be open on Thanksgiving day. Allow employees to spend time with their families and honestly, shoppers too. Many rely on these deals for specific holiday gifts lining up early for their chance to buy something on a super discount. One way to show you are against opening stores on Thanksgiving is by shopping at retailers who pledge not to open on the holiday.

One year when the kids were little, Zsu Zsu pets were all the rage, and of course, they topped our daughter’s Christmas list. Toys R Us advertised that they would have a huge shipment ready for sale on Black Friday. Online, these obnoxious little toys were reselling for 25x their retail cost because they sold out everywhere. So my husband lined up after Thanksgiving dinner to be there when Toys R Us opened at midnight. He got a ton of Good Daddy points for that one.

In Other News

The Crown // The full season 3 of The Crown was released Sunday, and I have yet to watch even a single episode. I’m kinda an “all or nothing girl,” and since I don’t have time to sit and watch them all and relish in my binge, then I won’t even watch one. The series is holiday binge-worthy and I will definitely get to it over the break. Have you watched, yet?

Cats Trailer // The movie version of the musical CATS comes out Dec. 20th. Have you viewed the trailer yet? The cast is fantastic, but they all appear as CGI cats. You can check out the trailer here. Is it me, or are these cats pretty creepy? They are like cat people and seriously strange looking. I think it is too distracting. What is wrong with costume and make-up? And for that matter why mess with Lady & The Tramp.  Who needs a live-action version?

GoT Alternate Ending // Tormund (a.k.a Kristofer Hivju) announced yesterday that they shot an alternate ending to Game of Thrones. The second ending was huge news to the legions of fans who were disappointed by the show’s last season. Just the other day, my daughter and I debated the last season of GoT. She had a more pragmatic take on the ending, saying it fit with the overall story.

My reaction, though muted over time, was more emotional. I still feel they didn’t satisfy their fans with the ending. We both agreed that they rushed the last season, and given the slow arch of the first seven seasons, the eight and final season somehow shocked us all with the sheer volume of events fit in each episode.  I am sure all fans of the show would love to see this alternate ending. I hope they release it for all of us to judge, I mean enjoy.?

Must-Read Books 2019 // Good Reads has released its list of Popular Must-Read Books of 2019. This year I haven’t read as many books as I planned. Primarily because starting this blog has taken up most of my free time, but also I have become somewhat of a CNN addict over the last year. Next year topping my 2020 goals list will be to read more. Thankfully, I have read some of the books on the list, but I see several more I want to add to my “to read” list. What is on your reading list?
