Black Friday Wishlist

Are we allowed to wish for anything this year? If wishes did come true, I certainly wouldn’t waste my wish on sale items. I would wish we could go back to before Covid and recognize the threat and, as a nation, adjust appropriately, saving thousands of lives. But, of course, hindsight is 2020, as they say.

Since returning to the past is not a realistic wish, I am channeling my wishes for the upcoming sales. I am woefully behind on holiday shopping, and I hope to get many of my gifts on sale, stretching my cash and allowing me to give nicer quality gifts within my budget.

2020 Sales Forecast

Because 2020 has been like no other year and retailers are hurting, many have started their holiday sales early, like back in October early. So I don’t need as much wishful thinking as in past years. We have a pretty good idea of what will be on sale. However, I do have a few high hopes – I’m talking to you, Apple! I really want a deal on a new computer or the latest Apple Watch.

Below are my sale hopes laid bare for you all to see. I know some of these are on your lists too. If we collectively cross all our digits, do you think we can will these sales into reality? It seems worth a try.

Clothing

  • Black Friday & Cyber Monday is the time to pick up your favorite Cashmere on sale. J.Crew generally puts my beloved Cashmere Crew on sale this time of year. A great time to stock up. I wear them all the time like a tee except for winter.
  • Last year I missed out on this Lululemon Puffer. It is the perfect weight with no added bulk for CA winter days. I am crossing my fingers that it goes on sale, but I may pull the trigger anyway. My only hesitation is that they don’t have to cool army green color from last year. Boo!
  • Grayson shirts are my absolute favorite. I devoted a whole post to my love of Grayson.  I love to pick them up on sale if possible.
  • Graphic tees are uber-popular right now. Anine Bing has some of the best. They are pricey, so I hope to pick up a few on sale this year.
  • Mother Denim is hot this year. I have several pairs in the lighter washes. I want to add a couple of pairs of darker wash to my collection. Moussy Vintage is a luxury denim brand from Japan. The jeans are expensive, but the denim and washes are amazing. I pick up on sale when I can. Shopbop should have me covered on this one.

Shoes

  • My daughter keeps threatening to steal my Dr. Marten’s Leona boots. I think the only reason she hasn’t made good on that threat is Covid. Before she goes off to college, she may need her own pair.
  • I am not a Birkenstock girl, but I picked these up because they are so popular. They are the perfect alternative to Uggs, which I can’t wear anymore because of my old lady feet. I may have to adjust my stance and say I am firmly a Birkenstock girl now. These shoes are kinda awesome! I purchased the black full price, but I am picking them up if the tan goes on sale.
  • The Zadig & Voltaire high tops are beyond cool! I’ve been eyeing them for a while. They are currently back in stock at Bloomingdale’s and part of the $25 off $125 sale. I just ordered. The reviews say they run large. I ordered a 38. Fingers crossed they fit. I will keep you posted.
  • Paul Green sneakers are some of the most comfortable I own. The tan is perfect with all the current trends.
  • Stuart Weitzman boots usually go on sale during Black Friday. The trick is finding the color and size you want before they sell out. I would love to pick up another pair in tan. I have grey and black now. They run slightly large. I wear a size 8 in the Lowland boots.

Accessories

  • I really want the Strathberry Bucket Bag in Midi size like this one at Nordstrom. However, I prefer the color of the mini at Shopbop. This highly coveted bag is just too darn hard to get your hands on. Snatch it up if you want one. Fingers crossed for a Thanksgiving sale.
  • A cashmere wrap makes a wonderful gift. This one from White & Warren is my all-time favorite. I take it on every vacation. Yes. Every single one. It works as a wrap for warmth or an extra layer blanket in a chilly hotel room.
  • Gorjana jewelry is simply amazing. The quality for the price cannot be beaten. I have this crescent moon necklace and get tons of compliments on it. The jewelry makes a lovely gift. For my birthday, I received the Parker Pendant Necklace. I absolutely love it, and I hope to get some charms for Xmas.
  • I received the new Apple Watch 6 for my birthday. It came with the new braided loop band, which is great for every day and working out. I want a ‘fancier’ band for going out. You know when we finally get to do that again. 2021 is looking hopeful. I have several Michele watches and love the look of this band.
  • It looks like we will be wearing masks for a while even after the vaccine arrives. I guess it is time to invest in this latest accessory – the mask chain.

Beauty

  • The Sunday Riley Good Genes has a cult following but is too expensive to try without knowing it is great. Here’s hoping it goes on sale and ends up in my stocking.
  • My BFF turned me on to Joa Sanitizer. It is the best smelling one out there. It smells like a spa day. They are perfect as stocking stuffers, and I stash them all over the house and in each of our cars.
  • Here’s hoping this Facial Toner goes on sale and that it actually works. Aging gracefully doesn’t mean giving in to it.
  • I still help my daughter blow dry her hair straight when she needs it done. She is going off to college next year, and The Drybar Blow Dryer Brush will make her transition to doing it herself a whole lot easier.
  • The Slip Silk Pillowcase has definitely helped my hair, and I wake up with fewer creases on my face. It is a luxury item that makes an awesome gift.

Home

  • If you have been reading for a while, you know I am an ice tea junkie. With Covid, I have transitioned to making iced tea at home, but it isn’t quite the same. Here’s hoping a Cool Kettle to brew tea in will help get that restaurant-style brew flavor.
  • The reviews on this Heated Throw blanket are awesome. It isn’t a must-have, but I will definitely pick one up if it goes on sale.
  • I want to replace the existing Mirror in our entry with this modern one. I am feeling a bit guilty about making the switch. A good sale on this mirror will make it less painful.
  • I’m not a coffee drinker, but my husband sure is. This Luxury Coffee Maker would make a fabulous gift. He, too, is staying away from coffee shops.
  • You can never have too many Baskets. I have this set and use it for my bigger plants. I also use these baskets to organize my blankets in my linen closet.

Technology

  • As I mentioned, my daughter is headed off to college next fall. She definitely needs a new computer, and the  MacBook Air is all new.
  • She also could use the Apple Watch 6 too. I like the idea I can keep tabs on her while away at college. Not in a creepy helicopter mom way but the ‘if I don’t hear from her in a while,’ I can double-check she is okay way.
  • Hoping the Tile Tracker will help my husband keep track of his stuff.
  • I’ve heard the Bose Air Buds are the most comfortable out there. I find most headphones horribly uncomfortable. It would be great to find a pair that doesn’t hurt my ears. It would be even better to find them on sale.
  • My husband and I have been going back and forth on outdoor cameras. As a result, we haven’t put any up yet. I hope the Ring Cameras go on sale, and we can finally buy them and be done with this debate.
  • A high-quality portable speaker is a great gift for your college student. Bose again for quality and durability.

The sales this year a certain to be epic. I plan to do all my shopping online this year. It is a safety precaution I am glad I can take. But if you do head out, please be kind to each other. The holidays are always stressful, but this year they are certain to be on another stress level.

Please Be Kind

Remember, all the employees are essentially risking their lives to make a living and cut them a little slack. Lines are always long but certainly will be longer this year. Bring your phone or a book, and take the opportunity to relax while you wait. There is absolutely nothing complaining will do to help.

Sales have already started, so if the item you want is already on sale, snatch it up. There is a real risk of items selling out this year. So shop early and check back often.

I hope you all have a wonderful Thanksgiving and happy shopping this week.
