4th of July Outfit Inspiration
Do you have a 4th of July tradition? We don’t really. All that is important to me is that I spend the holiday with family. Of course, as the kids get older that may be more and more difficult to make happen. We have spent the 4th on Martha’s Vineyard, at Catalina, at my father in-laws home overlooking downtown and many years when the kids were little at home because we were strict about naps and bedtime. One thing is for sure, the 4th of July is always casual.
My 4th of July style does not include over the top red, white and blue or flag print. I appreciate those people who go all out with the hat, earring and clothes but it just isn’t me. I prefer a more subtle nod to our countries rich history. A couple years ago we bought a sport fishing boat that we keep in San Diego Bay. It is the perfect location to view several of San Diego’s over 20 fireworks displays. We are closest to the Big Bay Boom which is the largest fire works display in San Diego County. So for the last few years we have spent the day on the boat.

What I am Wearing
The weather here on July 4th is unpredictable. Most years the day starts off with fog and often ends with fog. Being on the bay means I definitely plan for cool or outright cold weather. So my 4th outfit usually consists of a sweatshirt and short or pants. I try and choose a fun sweatshirt that has red, white and blue in it. The one below is from Wildfox and it is beyond cozy. In years past, I have picked up tops from Lucky Brand, Target and Nordstrom. I usually pick them up during the year and save them for the 4th. Another great idea is red pants or shorts. I have been hunting for the perfect red shorts but have yet to find them. But when I do, you know I will share them with all of you.

- Do spend time with family and friends.
- Don’t forget to wear sunscreen even if the skies are cloudy.
- Don’t EVER drink and drive. Take an Uber.
- Be respectful of our earth. Pick up after yourself at the beach and park.
- Don’t eat too many HOT DOGS! (I am looking at you Anne!)
- Do enjoy some fresh fruit!
- Do remember fireworks scare animals.
