Wow! 2020 is already off to the races. Can you believe we are already in the middle of January? We are still sucking down Christmas goodies around here. I am tempted to shove them all in the trash and get on with cleaner eating. I decided to give intermittent fasting a try. Have any of you tried it?
I am doing a 16:8 with sixteen hours of fasting. It’s been going well until Cameron’s birthday when we ate late, and now I have to fast until 1 p.m., which is practically impossible given the fact I am already starving. Usually, I try and finish eating around 6 p.m., so I don’t have to wait so long in the morning.
Winter Coat Dilemma
We are off to Memphis today for a tournament. I’m bummed because the forecast calls for rain, and I was hoping to wear one of my fun winter coats. Now I will be stuck with my dull (not really, but plain black) winter raincoat. We went last year too, and it rained and then snowed. It was crazy cold. Is there anything worse than freezing rain?
But no hate for Memphis. It is a fun town. Barbecue on Beale Street, Graceland, and the Civil Rights Museum make Memphis a fun vacation destination. Though we will avoid the CRM because it is crazy crowded on MLK weekend, if you haven’t been, you really should go.

Weekly Sales Spotlight
- Anthropologie – Extra 40% Off Sale Items. I picked up a few items, including the Josephine Velvet Tapered Trousers and Maria Sequined Joggers thinking of the 2020 holiday season. Both were under $50. The velvet is still available in both colors and all sizes. I opted for blue because it is the Pantone color of the year. But the sequin is only available in Small. I wear a Medium. I also picked up this Metalic Puffer Vest. Thoughts? I am undecided. In theory, it is cool. We will see if it is actually cool when it arrives.
- Athleta – 30% off select styles thru 1.19. How cool are these Swirl Reflective 7/8 Tights? If you run outside in the dark, they are a must-have. The Leopard Wool Cashmere Crew I love is also on sale, and all sizes are currently available.
- Bloomingdale’s Long Weekend Sale – Up to 70% off when you take an extra 40% off clearance + 20% off sale items. Ok! I just got seriously side-tracked shopping at Bloomies. My beloved Pam & Gela Glen Plaid Cigarette Pants are $117 with a 40% discount. I wear a medium in P&G pants.
- Gap is having a HUGE sale with up to 75% off EVERYTHING plus 40% off your purchase with code: NEWGEAR. I have a similar Sherpa-Lined Denim Jacket, and it is crazy good. Keeps you so warm unless it is raining. Wat wha!

Things to Munch On
- Zendaya! She is seriously a style icon, but her Tom Ford outfit at the Critic’s Choice Awards was next level! I mean, seriously, everything about it was perfection!
- The Academy Awards announced their nominations this week. I have a list of films I want to see. What I don’t get is how Joker got so many nominations. It seems so dark. Joaquin Phoenix is an amazing actor. Still, I am not sure I want to see this movie. What are your thoughts?
- The Oscars are going without a host again this year. I was skeptical, but it worked last year. I hope they feature more of Melissa McCarthy this year. She is hilarious. You can check out her performance at the 2019 Oscars here.
- My daughter shares a birthday with Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. What an incredible impact he has made on our world. I am glad they dedicated a holiday to this peaceful, civil rights activist. My daughter is happy for a three day weekend, always around her birthday. If you haven’t ready his Autobiography, I highly recommend it. It is inspirational.
