If quarantine has taught us anything, it is that joggers are an essential part of our wardrobe. Ok! It has likely taught us more than just that but it has definitely taught more of us than others. Even as businesses start to open up, we likely won’t be headed back to uncomfortable fashion any time soon. I mean, who wants to worry about tight jeans or painful shoes when we are already struggling to keep our masks in the right place? The struggle is real, but the threat is significant. Wear the damn mask! But I digress.
I rely on my joggers as an alternative to leggings, which are just to darn hot during the summer. This summer, I discovered Vuori Performance Joggers, and I am obsessed. The fabric is buttery soft, and the fit is awesome. Vuori joggers are perfect for every day, but what about when you want to look a little more pulled together? Joggers still work. Just pick up a pair of satin or silk joggers, and instantly you give your look a fashionable boost.
The Diandra Pleated Joggers from Anthropologie offer a boost to your style while still offering the comfort of a jogger. I opted for the 8 Tall in olive. In hindsight, I should size down to a 6 Tall. Overall, I would say these run a bit large, especially if you are ordering in Tall. The fabric is Viscose, and the joggers have a wonderful roped ribbon side stripe. It lends weight to the lightweight fabric adding a nice drape to the pleated trousers. The styling options are endless but below I am styling them for everyday outings.

How to Style Satin Joggers
For Running Errands: Satin Joggers + Graphic Tee + Sneakers
Let me be honest. In the past, I usually ran errands looking like I just came from the gym. I always put more effort into outfits when running to the mall, of course, but most of the time my look is more athleisure than high fashion. Now, I do most of my returns via the mail. I am hoping some of my favorite retailers will realize mail-in returns are just safer for everyone and get rid of the shipping charge. I’m talking to you Anthropologie & J.Crew.
But these days, my only chance to dress up is when I head out for some specific reason. So, I put my Vouri joggers away, and I head out in elevated joggers. Satin joggers are both stylish and comfortable.
Sneakers are essential when running around. You know I love my Golden Goose. I am always wary of linking my GG because they sell out so quickly. I have found Shopbop to have the most consistent selection of styles and sizes. My tee is the Stones Flocked Leopard Tee by Free People. It is available in six colors.
Lunch with the Ladies: Satin Joggers + Fitted Tee + Leather Jacket
Ladies who lunch is such a cliche, but lunch with my girlfriends is my élan vital. I am blessed with the most powerful, brilliant, and creative friends. They energize me and renew my spirits. The months of lockdown kept us apart except online, and when we finally could regroup in person, it was glorious. We met in an outdoor cafe adequately socially distanced, of course.
Satin joggers are perfect for ladies who lunch, or ladies who have lunch once in a while when their crazy schedule permits. Since dining outside right now is a must, I always bring a jacket. One of my best purchases from last year is the Madewell Leather Jacket. This year it is available in a slightly darker tan and a dark forest, which is scrumptious. Madewell has excellent leather for the price.
The black tee is the Delia Tee by Reformation. It has a universally flattering scoop neck with elbow-length sleeves. The fabric is ribbed-knit, which has the exact right amount of stretch to hold you in but not sausage your middle. It is a great base layer for so many different outfits. It is a workhorse in my wardrobe. I wish they would make it in several different colors, but alas, it is only available in black.
Here’s hoping that as the winter arrives, we will finally get a handle on the pandemic. Lunching outside for so many will be simply impossible. Contact with your girlfriends is just as critical as masks for your health. As the cold weather ushers in, we will have to find new and innovative ways to enjoy each other’s company. What are your suggestions?
A Night Out on the Town: Satin Joggers + Lace Top + Blazer
A night out on the town seems somewhat wishful thinking right now. However, a night out with your SA is so essential. We have kids in online school, and many have both parents working from home. Our usually peaceful household is more lively. The dogs seem to love it, though. Some time away to regroup and reconnect is always important, but even more so when the stress of everything is so in your face!
My lace top is the Berklin Top by Wayf from last year. This year they have updated the lace top with a modern puff sleeve. The Emma Puff Sleeve Lace Top is available in eight colors. At under $90, the Emma top is a great value and looks far more expensive. It comes with a nude camisole attached which so many of the more costly options, don’t. I love Wayf for their affordable fashion. The lace top looks great with satin joggers and works with your favorite jeans or satin skirt.
In the future, I could see wearing this outfit at the theatre. I prefer pants when in an auditorium because you never know if there will be a draft. I am sure I am not the only one missing live performances. My daughter and I have watched Hamilton on Disney + four times already. It is definitely a step up from the Tiger King earlier in quarantine.
Last year about this time, we saw The Play That Goes Wrong—such a fun show. We seem to be in the year that goes wrong! Just when you think it can’t get worse, it does. The countdown to 2021 starts now. BTW – this would be a perfect NYE outfit.
It seems Covid has tainted everything. The pandemic will forever change our world. It has forever changed my middle.😉 I have never been one to suffer for fashion. Post-Covid, I will likely never return to uncomfortable clothes, uncomfortable shoes, or things that bind in any way (I’m talking to you underwire bras).
Maybe I should change my website to CasualDahlia? There are so many ways to have style and be comfortable. It is my mission at StyleDahlia to do just that. I will never recommend anything that isn’t comfortable. Suffering for fashion isn’t fabulous. Finding fashion that is functional and comfortable is fabulous! Am I the only one who hears the word fabulous only in John Barrowman’s voice?
I would love it if you followed me on Instagram for my everyday outfits or on Pinterest for my fashion inspiration. StyleDahlia is a fashion and lifestyle website with a modern take on midlife. We hope to inspire you to step out of your comfort zone, try new things, and live your life in full bloom.
