We all have that someone on our list who is always jetting off to some fabulous travel destination. The one we live vicariously through on their Instagram feed. I aspire to be that person. Hell, after Covid, I am happy to get a quality vacation. On the other hand, maybe the person on your list who travels all the time does so for work. They have packing down to a science and give all the best tips. This gift guide is for both types of travel lovers.

Who Doesn’t Love to Travel?

It is rare to find someone who doesn’t like traveling. Sure we all complain about flights, layovers, hotel issues, and the like, but we know that exploring the world is a luxury not all can afford. So I don’t take for granted my opportunity to travel. Ok, maybe one or two times when I went to a god-forsaken place for my daughter’s sport. I have some crazy stories to tell, however.

I have compiled a list of 20 items for women and 20 items for men that every travel lover will appreciate. These items are practical and make traveling more enjoyable. It takes practice to be a good traveler. Having all the right travel items is key to becoming a successful traveler.

Gift Guide for the Female Travel Lover

8. Cashmere Travel Wrap – I have this travel wrap, and it is my absolute favorite travel item. It keeps me warm on the plane. I can wear it as a wrap-out at night or an added blanket on my bed. I left one in a Uber in Chicago once, and I promptly came home and ordered a replacement.
9. Kindle Paperwhite Signature Edition – The new Kindle Paperwhite with a 6.8in display, 32Gb of storage, and wireless charging. I already ordered mine. Why do people still carry books around when this simple little gadget can store all your books?
10. Medium A5 Dotted Hardcover Notebook – I prefer a blank book for travel logs instead of a dedicated travel journal. This journal is by far the best small, leather-bound notebook I have found. It is available with blank, dotted, or squared pages.
11.  Wool & Cashmere Poncho – Another item you can easily pack in your carry-on for added warmth or a little style.
12. Belkin Wall Mount Surge Protector – Hotel rooms never have enough outlets. So I carry a small adapter so all my electronics can be charged nearby.
13. Eclipse Vanity Travel Make-Up Mirror – I don’t travel without a make-up mirror. This one lays flat, and it is just the right size. Unfortunately, I need one with magnification, or who knows how I will look when the make-up is all said and done.
14. Lululemon City Adventurer Backpack – Truly the best travel backpack out there. It is lightweight and durable. I have tried them all. My recommendation is always to go with a nylon backpack. They weigh so much less.

16. Iridescent Compact Umbrella – Always be prepared with this compact umbrella. It sucks to be caught in the rain without one.

3. Mini MagLite Pro LED – A working flashlight is a must. We pack one every time now after being stuck in the dark, in Ixtapa Mexico with a sick baby and no electricity.
