Snake Print Styling
I never thought there would be a print that would rival my love of camouflage. Seriously, I’ve gone silly for snake print! Camouflage and snake print have some things in common. They both are understated prints that work as a neutral. I prefer both with black accents instead of brown and both camo and snake print never really go out of style. Therefore, investing in quality pieces means they can last a lifetime.
Dipping my toe in this trend, my first snake print purchase was a pair of shoes, followed by several more pairs of shoes. A good pair of snake print shoes can elevate any outfit. They work especially well with minimalist outfits of grey or black which make up the majority of my everyday wardrobe. As I have gotten more comfortable, I branched out to other pieces even going so far as buying a couple snake print dresses. Now, my wardrobe slithers with snake print.
Snake Shoes & Accessories
Glamour classified snake print as one of the top 10 trends of 2019 and it doesn’t seem to be slowing down anytime soon. So don’t be afraid to add some reptilian print to your wardrobe. As I mentioned, an easy way to start is with snake shoes. I often find it easiest to test a trend out by adding trendy shoes or accessories to my wardrobe. You can go small like a belt or step up your serpent swagger with these Sam Edelmen tall boots!

Substitute these stylish boots for your regular black boots all season for a modern take this fall. I picked these boots up at the Anniversary sale and they sold out almost immediately. I bet they will be restocked soon, so you can get your feet a pair. The heel is a perfect walkable height and the zipper makes for easy on and off. I am tall and these boots fit right at the knee so they would be OTK boots for anyone shorter.
There are so many awesome reptilian shoes on the market. Here are my favorites. BTW – I usually link only brands that I personally wear from companies where I shop. These items may be available other places but ordering online can be tricky and I like to recommend only shops I am familiar with their return policies.
Snake Tops
If you are feeling a bit more daring, maybe a snake print top is right for you. Interestingly, I wouldn’t say daring when recommending a camo shirt. In fact camo seems downright safe compared to snake print. It it likely the result of, the overtly sexy nature of snake and the myriad of overly sexy snake print clothing options on the market. But viper print patterns have gone main stream and now even the most conservative woman can find a snake print option.
Snake Pants
Keeping with the swimming metaphor when you are feeling comfortable, try wading into a pair of snake print pants. In my Dressing Room Diaries from the #Nsale, I admitted to not being ready for snake print pants. Apparently, I just hadn’t found the right pair because days later, I found the Paige Hoxton Slim in Roccia Snake and I knew I had to have them. They are perfect for date night or everyday wear. They are a little something different to add to my rotation of blue jeans. Expect to see these cool pants featured prominently in my Instagram fall and winter feed.
Sometimes, the best way to get in on the trend is to dive right in. I found some great dresses early in the season. Most of the dresses had shades of brown and tan including this Anthropologie Tunic dress and this Anine Bing Shirt Dress. My inspiration for this post came from my recent slip dress purchase. I am obsessed with the CAMI NYC Raven Slip Dress. This dress is OMG, Good! Like, where have you been all my life? Good!
Now, that I submerged myself in snake print, I wonder how much is too much? Honestly, if something works for you then buy all you want or can afford. Luckily, there are reptile options at all price points and for all adventure levels and because snake print is a classic neutral you can wear all of it for years to come.
