Right about the time, we head into fall, everything seems to speed up. Is it the shorter days or the impending holidays? Who knows? But by this time each year, the warm glow of fall has started to morph into a haze of anxiety. There is just so much to do and not enough time to do it.
At the same time, everything seems to be speeding up, the options for unplugging seem to get better and better. Fall television shows are at their most juicy during late Oct. and early Nov. Movies premieres ramp up on the way to the holiday season and September sees the release of all the best books of the year hoping to make your holiday shopping list.
With all of the things on your to-do list and even more distractions, no wonder this time of year becomes a pressure cooker. The push and pull can cause even the most serene person to get a bit stressed. When life gets overwhelming, it is nice to rely on a tried and true outfit formula that looks great and works in almost every situation.

When time is bearing down on me, I reach for tried and true options like my favorite pair of denim from AG Jeans. Because the weather is still fickle, a cold morning can turn into a blazing hot afternoon, I add a tee. The great thing is, it can be any of your favorite tees from a plain white crew neck to a modern band tee. The possibilities are truly endless. Next, add a great blazer. With this simple outfit formula, you are ready for anything life hands you.
Blazers are hot this season! There are so many amazing styles to choose from but right now I am feeling all the feels for the Everlane Oversized Blazer. It has an oversized men’s wear vibe but the cut is slim and super flattering. After reading all the reviews, I went with a size 8. I often size up in blazers for an oversized fit but this blazer is already cut oversized and my normal 8 fit perfectly even in the arms.

The blazer is so good I bought it in both black and Glen Plaid. The black is 95% Italian wool and 5% elastane. The Glen Plaid is 63% Italian wool and 37% Nylon. The Glen Plaid is a warmer blazer but both are a nice weight and hang perfectly. You know I love Everlane and this is just another fabulous find from their online store. Seriously, just take my money already Everlane.
Perfect Combo with Any Shoe
You can add any shoe you want to make this outfit formula more, or less, dressy. It is just so easy. Sneakers are my everyday go-to and this outfit looks great with my favorite kicks. I prefer this blazer with the classic styles like the Nike Air Force 1’s or Adidas Superstars.
You can easily wear this outfit with your favorite boots, booties or flats. I recently picked up the popular Gucci Slipper in red. Why did I wait so long to buy these shoes? They are so crazy comfortable. I seem to constantly have problems with blisters in normal flats. Am I the only one? Enter an easy solution – the mule! No heel and therefore no blisters. It seems so simple but somehow I made it so complicated. Honestly, I worried gripping the shoe on my foot would be difficult, and maybe it would be, if I wore the shoes for several hours, but I didn’t have a problem at all. Now, I want them in every color and my daughter is already threatening to “borrow” my red ones.
This outfit formula works in so many situations. You can wear it to run errands and it is equally appropriate for a casual dinner out with your family or even date night with your significant other.
