Sweater Picks for Fall 2018

This season I have been all about the sweaters. I took a few seasons off from sweaters and focused on jackets but this year’s crop of sweaters is just too fun to skip. Bold colors, animal patterns and fun prints had me at hello. I went all in and these are my favorite sweater purchases so far this year. You can read about my “boring” sweater purchase here but this list is all about fun!

Because the climate is mild in California and because I am dangerously close to menopause, I focus on sweaters that are not too warm. Also, because I am a tall girl with broad shoulders (5’9”) I don’t like to add bulk with any of my clothes or I begin to quickly look like Brienne of Tarth. Gwendoline Christie is beyond gorgeous but her GOT character wears armor exclusively that doesn’t let her figure shine.

Here are my top sweater picks for winter of 2018

Anthropologie Rainbow Chevron Sweater – I am a bit obsessed with rainbows right now. This rainbow stripe sweater is an updated rainbow version perfect for us grown-ups. It can be easily dressed up with slacks for work or worn casually with jeans. It is thin enough to wear under a blazer or jacket but still warm enough for most winter days.

Chelsea 28 Stitch Interest Turtleneck Sweater – A bright pop of color is definitely on trend for fall. I picked up this cowl-neck, hot pink sweater at Nordstrom last week and I have to say it so much fun for this girl who usually likes all black. This sweater will take me into the spring as it isn’t too warm and drapes perfectly.

White + Warren Multicolor Stripe Sweater – Stripes have been hot for the last couple seasons and this sweater is a perfect take on the trend. It is beyond comfortable and warm enough because it is cashmere for most of SoCal’s coldest days.

Equipment Dee Leopard Cashmere Sweater – I picked this sweater up at the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale. It was my first item of animal print for the season. I have since gone all in. You can never go wrong with cashmere. It is perfect for all cold weather. This sweater, if cared for properly, will last forever.

Treasure & Bond Ribbed Cardigan – I honestly have never met a grey sweater I didn’t like. I call this my grandfather sweater as it is perfectly slouchy and oversized. How is this sweater fun you ask? Somehow this cardigan has a vintage cool vide and I just love it. At $79, the price can’t be beat!

Anine Bing Justine Leopard Print Cardigan – This is the warmest sweater I bought this year and because of that it is on the bulkier side but the sweater is incredibly made. It definitely will not pill over time. I love the deep rich color and the red leopard is an unexpected twist on the leopard trend. Anine Bing is my new favorite brand. I want literally everything she makes. All of the pieces I have picked up so far are beyond stylish and impeccably made.

Anthropologie Varsity Striped Pullover – I love the 70’s vibe of sweater. It is cut a bit short so it definitely needs high waisted jeans. Paired it with my oversized gold hoops, bootcut denim and Adidas Superstars and I was ready for anything even the roller rink.

Anthropologie OctaviaSweater – I love the marled yarn and colors of this sweater. It has a definite hippy vibe and it isn’t scratchy. I was surprised to like it as much as I do because I am not usually a fan of orange. This orange is actually more neon and it just works. The blend of yarn mutes all the colors making a soft pattern with no color overpowering the other. Super cute!

The temperatures has dropped to a point where I can finally say it is sweater weather. I was going to say, baby it’s cold outside… but wow! Who knew that would be so controversial? I am just going to sit here peacefully and enjoy my hot cup of tea, warm fire, cozy sweater and holiday music. Well, that is my dream. Seven shopping days left till Xmas. So, the relaxation will have to wait for our vacation.

Happy shopping Dahlias!
