The Tea a Weekly Series News Happenings and Sales

Ah! Valentine’s Day. Love it or hate it but you can’t avoid it. This year V-day falls on Friday, which surely makes all the restaurants and retailers extra happy. I enjoy getting a little somethin’, somethin’ for my peeps, and this year is no exception.  For the hubby, I picked up the Theragun G3 Percussive Therapy Device, which is way more than I usually spend for a little gift, but he has wanted one and has been having trouble with his hip. Plus, I purchased it from Nordstrom, so if something goes wrong, I know I can easily return it.

Valentine’s For the Kids

The kids are both getting something that reminds them how much they warm my heart. For my son The UGG Tasman Slippers and my daughter the Comme des Garçons Heart Tee. Use this Valentine’s Day as a reminder to tell those special people in your life that you love them.

If you still need a gift idea for your best guy check out my V-day Gift Guide.

Things to Munch On!

  • The primary season is in full swing, and I just realized that I would not be able to vote at the polls this year because I’m having surgery that day. I just applied for a permanent Vote by Mail ballot, which made me instantly feel old, but apparently, I am late to the party because everyone seems to have already done it. Being an introvert, it doesn’t surprise me when I am late to the party!
  • Did you watch the Oscar’s? You know, I do. Seeing Chris Rock & Steve Martin present at the beginning of the ceremony reminded me of what we lost when they decided to forgo a host. Both funny men were spot on, and though they didn’t immediately come to mind when I thought of old hosts, they both were amazing during their time. Bring back a host Academy!
  • Everyone seemed to be shocked to see Eminem pop up on stage to perform his Oscar-winning song, Lose Yourself. It didn’t surprise me at all because it fits with the style of previous montages from years past. I, for one, loved seeing him perform. My son is a huge Eminem fan so, I paused could come to watch. He couldn’t be bothered and said he would catch the performance on YouTube later. SO! That reminded me that eventually, they will stop broadcasting these shows because audiences are dwindling and kids these days…(yes I said it) don’t appreciate live TV.
  • Almost without exception, the Oscar fashion was rather ho-hum. I said Almost. Despite the cape controversy, Natalie Portman’s Dior Haute Couture gown was ah!mazing! Scarlett Johansson’s Oscar de la Renta dress was TDF and so sexy! And Regina King always slays! You can check out all the looks here.
  • There were some serious misses. Funny women Kristen Wiig and Maya Rudolph both disappointed in frumpy frocks of an unflattering red. They should have borrowed Rebel Wilson’s stylist who had the Pitch Perfect star looking precisely that.
  • In sharp contrast, the Oscar After Party fashion was on fleek! Check it out here.  There were so many amazing looks! I don’t think I can pick a favorite.
  • And a nod to Jane Fonda, Elizabeth Banks, and Joaquin Phoenix for wearing “recycled” outfits. The two women raided their closets and picked two stunning red dresses from their past. Jane did so after pledging to stop buying clothes to do her part for the Earth. Of course, if I had her closet, I could probably stop shopping too. Or not. Cause I kinda love shopping. But good for her. I will do my part in other ways.
  • Congratulations to Joaquin Phoenix on his first Oscar win. I honestly thought he won for Walk the Line, which was incredible.  He wore the same Tux for all of his awards wins this season. Apparently, that isn’t very common.

What did you think of the Oscar fashion? Do you even follow it anymore? I love a good party dress. It is a chance to feel like a princess. Speaking of royalty, make sure to treat your loved ones like the kings, queens, prince, and princesses that they are this Valentine’s Day. It doesn’t have to be anything, significant but taking a quick moment to tell them how special they are will make their day. You would make my day if you left me a comment with your thoughts on The Tea.
