The Tea a Weekly Series News Happenings and Sales

January is Almost Gone

The last day of January. Can you believe it? Valentine’s Day is on the horizon. Do you like or hate V-day? Once you have kids, all holidays have more meaning. I use this silly holiday to remind my kids, in a specific way, that I love them beyond words. I tell them I love them every day. It is something I didn’t hear growing up from my mom, and I never want my children to question whether they are loved unconditionally. But on Valentine’s Day, I like to give them a little gift and a kind word that reminds them that they are the best thing that ever happened to me.

Valentine’s Day

Of course, it is an excellent time to remind your significant other how much you love them too. You can check out my Men’s Valentine’s Gift Ideas in my recent post. I purchased something off the list for my guy. There is something on there for everyone, whether you prefer holiday-specific items or more open-ended gifts.

Weekly Sales Spotlight

  • Coats are on sale at NordstromRack some up to 70% off! There are all types of great coat styles on sale, including this Cole Haan Wool-Blend Coat.  If a puffer is on your shopping list, this Marc New York Jacket comes in three colors and is 60%! I love the blue. This Vince Faux Fur Jacket is stunning! Pick it up now 60% off!
  • One of my favorite summer pieces is on sale in Pantone’s color of the year. I already have The Rails Grant Crop Jacket in Olive and Camo, but I am seriously considering the blue. It is the perfect topper for camisoles.
  • Now thru 1/31 Intermix is having a 30% off Flash Sale. It’s a great time to pick up the FRAME Le High Flare jeans. I am still deciding whether I think straight leg or flare will be the must-have style of the year. I’m leaning toward straight leg denim like the Mother Tomcat, which is also on sale. Of course, I will never give up my skinnies like these rag & bone Nina.
  • My favorite pajamas from Eberjey are 30% off too.
  • Bloomingdale’s Winter Break Sale is going on now. I love a good Bloomies sale! It is a great time to pick up the crazy popular AG Legging Jeans.
  • I’m eyeing these Water-Resistant and oh! So! Chic! Aquatalia Boots.
  • I won’t travel without my cashmere wrap. Bloomingdale’s version is on sale!
  • If an animal print bag seems too over the top, maybe this All Saints Tote with a wonderfully subtle nod to animal print is for you.
  • I just picked up the North Face Puffer Jacket in Olive. It is 30% off at Backcountry.  It comes in a fabulous blue too.

Things to Munch On!

  • I am shocked and saddened by the death of Kobe Bryant, his daughter, and seven others in a helicopter crash in Los Angeles. Kobe’s light was bright, and with its premature extinction, it left a dark spot in the world. He will be missed.
  • Three cheers for Alicia Keys Grammy hosting performance. She handled the loss of Kobe with grace and, as always, was a bright light during the show.
  • I love watching the Grammy’s every year. I often find new music from the live performances. Honestly, I didn’t understand the hype around Lizzo until I saw her performance. OMG! She is a powerhouse. Her voice, her lyrics, and her freakin’ flute playing are incredible. She rocked the house! I am now a Lizzo fan!
  • Yeah! Billie Eilish, and her five Grammy wins. I found her music early on and convinced my daughter to use one of Billie’s songs for her performance sport. We have been fans ever since. Plus, I think my daughter looks a lot like Billie minus the green hair. ?
  • Have you ever clicked on a link and then proceeded to get similar stories recommended over and over? I am a sucker for dog videos. I keep clicking the links…The problem is even though they are meant to be happy (they are), they also make me sad. I am so glad for a dog to be rescued, saved, adopted, but I am equally saddened by the cruelty of people who leave dogs chained outside, abandoned, or dumped at a shelter. My pups are family, and I couldn’t imagine harming them or leaving them ever. Even though these videos bring me tears of both happiness and sadness, I keep watching. Why?

This weekend is our first weekend all home together in at least a month with nothing special to do. I am going to soak up the time with my kiddos. The weather is supposed to be lovely. What are your plans for the weekend? What the death of Kobe has reminded us all is that life is short, and we need to cherish the moments with those we love. Despite the fact Hallmark supposedly invented Valentine’s Day, it still is a perfect day to remember those who are important to us. We so often take time and our people for granted.
