When the kids were little, I would decorate (just a bit) for Valentine’s Day. I added heart wreaths to the door, runners on our table and used the V-day plastic plates. Classy, I know. As they got older, I realized that decorating for small holidays just isn’t me. I am a minimalist at heart, and adding more stuff to my home feels like clutter.<\/p>\n

But, I am not entirely a holiday scrooge. As I mentioned before, even though Valentine’s Day is accused of being a Hallmark holiday, I love to take the day to tell my people how much I love them. We all like hearing we are unique, and someone thinks we are amazing. Am I right? So why not V-day? Think of it as a yearly cell phone alarm to pause and tell your friends and family that you love them.<\/p>\n

I also like a good Valentine’s top. Unlike the Christmas sweater, which no matter how you wear, it looks kitschy, a V-day sweater is cool. Maybe not all of them, but let me show you a few that can work seamlessly into your wardrobe any day of the year but happen to be perfect for Valentine’s Day.<\/p>\n

I am a massive fan of Sundry<\/a> clothing. Their clothes feel like pajamas but with a modern casual design. They make coastal casual clothes with super-soft fabrics and a focus on color. They can be worn with jeans but also under a suit for work. You add them over your favorite slip dress or wear them with your favorite midi-skirt. Because they aren’t bulky, the possibilities are endless. For cold climates, add your favorite turtleneck underneath or top with your favorite coat.<\/p>\n

This sweater is on sale at Bloomingdale’s<\/a> right now. My child of the 70’s spirit loves rainbow anything, including this Rainbow Love Sweater<\/a>. Do you see a pattern yet? Dressing in the Valentine’s spirit doesn’t require lots of red, teddy bears or hearts…<\/p>\n

3. Sundry Heart Sweater<\/span><\/p>\n

You definitely can get away with a single heart on your sweater and still not look like you shopped at Gymboree. This Sundry Sweater<\/a> is a Bloomingdale’s<\/a> exclusive and is on sale now. It is as close to straight-up Valentinesy that I am willing to go, but I kind of love it.\u00a0 I know valentinesy isn’t a word, but I think it should be, don’t you? The grey balances the sweetness of the heart.<\/p>\n
