Yet another week has come and gone. The excitement from my BIG birthday has wained, and now I am stuck with the dull reality of being 50, which actually, isn’t that bad. For my birthday, we visited the California Wolf Center<\/a> in Julian. I have been in love with wolves as long as I can remember. I consider the wolf my spirit animal, but honestly, I have no idea what that means. Seeing these magnificent creatures up close was a dream come true.<\/p>\n

Wolves<\/strong>, as an apex predator, are essential to our ecosystem. But wolves have been given a bum rap with most of us fearing wolves from an early age due to tales like The Three Little Pigs and Little Red Riding Hood. Wolves were put on the Endangered Species List in 1973, with only a dozen left across North America.<\/p>\n

Now their long term survival is dependent upon conservation efforts, breeding, and reintroduction programs by groups like the California Wolf Center.
