Rude or Self Preservation<\/span><\/p>\n

Today my friend sent me a picture of a dog wandering through our local Anthropologie. Apparently, her owner let go of the leash to set her four-legged friend free to roam. I love dogs as much as anyone but there seems something wrong with an owner not remaining in charge of their pet.<\/p>\n

This weekend, Kent, Cami, and I went to see the Downton Abbey movie. As a long time fan of the show, the movie was like spending time with good friends. I loved every minute of it except during the last five minutes of the movie the women besides my daughter, decided to get on her phone and have a conversation followed by scrolling through her feed. The whole thing was completely distracting and I felt like I missed my last goodbyes with the Crawleys and their staff.<\/p>\n

It seems to me that we have gotten so wrapped up in ourselves that we often forget how our actions affect others. In some ways, it must be a self-preservation method. As one person becomes more selfish so do those around them. To the women in the theatre, I politely asked her to get off her phone and when she ignored me, I reminded her that her behavior was rude. Of course, my daughter was horrified by my speaking up and confronting this woman. But isn’t our silent acceptance of rude behavior part of the problem?<\/p>\n

Speak Up or Not?<\/span><\/p>\n

Believe me, I prefer to live in peace and you can’t do that by confronting every injustice you see but shouldn’t we confront some? Who cares if the guy in front of you at the grocery store has 15 items in the 10 items only line. For me ruining a wonderful movie with your phone conversation (that could have been taken outside) is worth speaking up.<\/p>\n

If we don’t speak up for some of the little things, how will we ever speak up for the major injustices we face?<\/p>\n

1K Followers & Counting<\/span><\/p>\n

This week I reached a 1000 followers on Instagram<\/a>. Yeah, me! Yesterday, Jennifer Aniston joined Instagram with one post and garnered 9.5 Million followers in only a day. Her selfie with the Friends cast racked up almost 11 million likes. I don’t follow many celebrities, but I did follow Jen. As if, we are on a first-name basis. Ha! Friends was my fav show for years and now my daughter counts it among her favorites thanks to Netflix. So welcome to Instagram Jen from one midlife influencer to another. ?<\/p>\n

I do follow Zendaya. I have been a fan since my kid’s watched Disney Channel. She is truly amazing and her style is TDF! I also follow Oprah, because Hello! She is Oprah! I love following people whose works, style or personality inspires me. My goal is to inspire others to live life in full bloom. I may never reach 11 million followers but I am hoping to carve my little niche in the social media business.<\/p>\n
