Spring is just around the corner. We are well into March, and finally, the weather is warming up. But Spring is a fickle beesh. She can be deceptively chilly and the night downright cold. By this time every year, we are all ready to pack up our winter clothes, put away the boots and move on to sandals. Mother Nature usually says, “Not so fast!”
Several spring shoe trends are perfect for the transitional seasons. I don’t know about you, but it will be several months before I think it is warm enough to wear sandals. So for this post (look for a summer shoe trend post in the future), I’m skipping open-toed options and focusing on the trends that keep your fit a bit warmer, like flats, clogs, and loafers. I will be tackling my favorite kicks in another post.

Neutral Flats
Flats are back and perfect for Spring. Unfortunately, I have a dysfunctional relationship with flats. I love how they look, but I find them difficult to wear. My feet are finicky, and I am prone to blisters. Despite rarely having luck with flats, I continue to try different pairs.
My latest experimental pair is the Day Glove from Everlane. Customer reviews give them a 4.5 out of 5 stars with almost 6500 reviews. The shoes are made of buttery soft Italian leather that molds to your foot over time. I have yet to wear them long enough to comment. However, I am hopeful as they are super comfortable on already.
Neutral flats are trending, especially the skin tones. All flat shoes are popular right now, but ballet flats, especially square toe, are hot! But, of course, you can’t go wrong with a traditional loafer or pointy toe option.
Another pair I recently picked up is The Danza by M.Gemi. This traditional ballet flat has an internal wedge for additional cushioning. Golden Goose sneakers also have an internal wedge, and I find their sneakers extremely comfortable.

Lug Sole Loafers
If your style is classic with an edge, the lug sole loafer is for you. I am obsessed with lug sole loafers. There are so many good options out there. Prada introduced their Monolith Logo Platform Loafers, and we fashion lovers swooned. Of course, being a casual woman, I just couldn’t justify the price though I keep trying.
So I decided to look for a pair of lug sole loafers that embodies the cool vibe at a much more reasonable price. I ended up with the Vagabond Shoemaker Kenova Loafers. They have a moderately chunky heel with a quality leather upper. I am a massive fan of this brand. They make high-quality, trendy shoes at a reasonable price. I’ve worn the heck out of The Cosmo 2.0 Chelsea Boot all winter long and will wear my Kenova loafers on repeat this spring.

Comfortable Clogs
I don’t know if I am a clog girl or not. I want to be. I have a fabulous pair of clogs from J.Crew (see #1 below). Clogs are super comfortable. But I can’t always handle the stomping around. I would rather enter a room quietly than make an entrance.
Of course, clogs are a big trend for Spring. They are the perfect transition shoe for wearing with jeans, shorts, or dresses. Clogs give your outfit a casual, boho vibe that works with all the flowery prints for Spring.
I am here for the hybrid clog, which is more of a mule. I love my Birkenstock Buckley Clogs. They are my everyday house shoes, and they are oh. So. Comfortable. I also picked up a pair of soft clogs by rag & bone that sold out almost immediately, but the Loeffler Randall clogs (see #13 below) are very similar. They are currently on sale.
I love soft clogs because they give you the look of clogs without the clomp. I also find open-back shoes easier to wear because my heels are prone to blisters. However, when my kids were little, I lived in Dansko Clogs. So if I wanted to try another pair of clogs, I would buy #8 below.

Everything Colorful
Every Spring is a return to color after the black and greys of winter, but bright colors are trending in clothes and accessories this year. So whether you are somewhat color adverse or love all the bright colors, shoes are a great way to add this trend to your everyday wardrobe.
No one color ruled the runway (except Valentino’s hot pink), but green, pink & lilac were definitely representing. I am on the hunt for a pair of green or hot pink shoes. I like to add this pop of color to the basics of jeans and a white tee. I love the Anthropologie pink clogs (#13 below), but again, I am not 100% sold on clogs. But the color is exactly what I want.
You can get in on this trend by picking a bright-colored version of your favorite shoe. Do you love flats? Pick up a green ballet flat instead of black. Are slip-on kicks your jam (They are my jam), then maybe the lilac Vince sneakers are for you. I added them here because I wear slip-on sneakers like flats. I add them to all my outfits, including summer dresses.
Add a pop of color to your existing wardrobe, or go full head to toe in color to get in on this trend. Mix and match colors for interest. I look dreadful in yellow, but I could get away with a pair of cheery yellow loafers. Use your accessories to try new colors you might not think to wear otherwise.

We just sprung forward for Daylight Savings Time, and though I enjoy the longer days, getting up at 6 a.m. has been painful. I am feeling sluggish. A shopping spree seems like an excellent way to raise my spirits. I have ordered several pairs of spring shoes to try. I am most excited to find a pair of bright-colored shoes. Adding them to my everyday look will freshen up my style for spring.
Next up, I will tackle my favorite sneaker trends for spring. Truth be told, I wear sneakers about 90% of the time, so I am excited to dive in on the current trends.
