Pink on the Red Carpets Inspires

Did you watch the Oscars? I am a long-time fan of award season. I have always been mildly obsessed with fashion and what better place to see gorgeous fashion than parading on the red carpet? This year the gowns were gorgeous. It didn’t take long for one trend to stand out. This year was ALL ABOUT PINK! From Lemonade to Fuchsia, Cerise to Salmon, the red carpet was awash in the color of universal love.

Pink Dahlias

Pink seemed especially popular amongst the Dahlia crowd. Angela Bassett’s Reem Acra, one shoulder gown was stunning and showed off her amazingly toned arms. Lisa Bonet, in Fendi Couture with the best accessory out there, Jason Momoa & his matching scrunchy, was simply amazing! (Ok! Lady Gaga’s Tiffany 123 karat yellow diamond necklace wasn’t too bad either).  Helen Mirren’s Schiaparelli gown made of multiple colors of pink tulle was the apex of pink fashion at this year’s awards. There is reason she is called the queen. But who stopped the show, quite literally, was Julia Roberts, in an Elie Saab one-shoulder dress and Stuart Weitzman matching neon heels (that just went on sale at Shopbop).

Young Dahlias

The young Dahlias also represented with stand outs like Gemma Chan in Valentino Haute Couture. I mean come on?! All of that gorgeous pink didn’t overwhelm her but enveloped her. She was just gorgeous.  Kiki Layne in a light pink stunner by Atelier Versace. There were also a few misses including Sarah Paulson, Linda Cardellini and in my opinion Kacey Musgrave, though some loved her look.

Outfit Inspiration

I found the Oscars truly inspiring not only because the academy is finally embracing diversity but because the Oscar red carpet reminded me just how much I love pink.  After the recent fashion shows, fashion focused on greens especially sage and mint for spring. Now, all eyes are on the pink hews. I feel the need to dig out some pink and added it to my regular wardrobe routine.

Pink is a stand out but not in an overt way. A splash near your face can add a rosy glow to your cheeks. Pink is almost universally flattering and adding a pop of pink can transform an outfit from ho-hum to wow!

Here is some pink inspiration for your wardrobe.
