Nordstrom Anniversary Sale 2020

Anniversary Sale picks from Styledahlia midlife fashion blog

The Nordstrom Anniversary Sale is the most anticipated sale of the year. As with everything this year, it will be a different experience. First, they delayed it from its early July date, which is a good thing as I was not prepared to shop in July. Am I the only one who is still adjusting to our “new normal”? Another change – Nordstrom released a preview of all sale items for everyone to build their wish lists. I love this change, and I hope they keep it for years going forward.

How to Shop

July 24: Preview (Digital. Replaces The Catalog. Open For All)

August 7: Nordy Club Ambassadors Shop Early Access
August 10: Nordy Club Influencers Shop Early Access

My Top Six Picks in Every Category

What is the same every year –  I say, I don’t need much, and every year, I end up buying all the pretty things. This year I decided I would focus on my top six picks in every category. This post, I will cover clothing, including tops, sweaters, jackets, denim, and pants. In my next posts, I will include accessories, active, beauty, purses, and home.  Some of the items I will be purchasing this year, but several are my tried and true sale finds from past years. So without further ado…

Pick Six Tops

  • Free People Arden Extra Long Top – Perfect for most days right now lounging on the couch. I love the longer length, which is perfect for leggings. I would also wear a long cardigan or sweater coat.
  • Treasure & Bond Stripe Blouse – A classic blue striped shirt will never go out of style. If you don’t have one, this is a great option. I have several. I wear them alone or under sweaters. They are great over a t-shirt and with leggings.
  • Frame Puff Sleeve Top – A tee with a little extra! Perfect for casual days or easy to dress up.
  • Paige Laramie Blouse – The wine color is TDF! But I am also intrigued by the black. I never seem to have enough cute black tops. I am torn, which I will pick up. What are your thoughts?
  • Vince V-Neck Top – The Anniversary sale is a great time to pick up Vince pieces, which are often pricey. I collected several Vince tops over the years, and they still look as good as new. Silk is perfect for summer.
  • ATM Destroyed Jersey Tee – Tye dye can often be overwhelming. The subtle color change on this tee is just enough to get in on the trend but not overpower. It is a lightweight jersey tee, which is perfect for layering in colder months too.

Pick Six Sweaters

  • Nordstrom Signature Colorblock Funnel Neck Sweater – Wow! That is a mouthful for a simple two-tone cashmere sweater. Nordstrom Signature quality is amazing. The
  • Vince Shawl Collar Ribbed Cardigan – A cropped cardigan feels oh! So! Fresh! For 2020. Pair with your favorite high-waisted denim or paper bag waist pants for a modern look for fall.
  • La Ligne Stripe Cashmere Sweater – Cashmere sweaters last the longest and are well worth the extra cost. This slightly nautical stripe sweater has a modern vibe.
  • Madewell Laguna Stripe Coat – I love Sweater Coat or Coatagins or whatever you call them. Madewell makes some of my favorite. I have three from Madewell, including a grey very similar to this style.
  • Rails Veronica Camo Sweater – You all know I am a sucker for camouflage. This is another cropped sweater option.  This winter, I will wear skinny jeans and boots with this fabulous sweater.

Pick Six Jackets & Coats

  • Blanc Noir Reversible Bomber Jacket – Last winter, I picked up a Blanc Noir jacket in this same camouflage fabric. The camo is subtle, and the weight is perfect for a fall.
  • Rails Collins Military Jacket – One of my favorite purchases from last year’s Anni sale. I purchased this jacket in army green. I now have it in navy blue and camouflage (I told you I am a sucker for camo). Black caught my eye because I can always use more casual black jackets.
  • BLANKNYC Vital Signs Suede Jacket – Instagram influencers love this brand and their reasonably priced suede jackets. I prefer my moto jackets without the cumbersome belt, so this one is an A+, in my opinion.
  • Theory Oakline Trench Coat – Last year, Theory offered a grey sweater coat. It sold out almost immediately. I have several grey sweater coats, including Madewell, mentioned above version, and though I purchased it last year, I decided to return the grey. This year they are offering a tan trench style version that I am picking up. The trench details at the sleeves and back make this coat a little extra!
  • J.Crew Stretch Cape Blazer – J.Crew makes the best blazers. They do run a tad small. I always size up because I hate them to be too snug.
  • Patagonia Nano Puff™ Hooded Jacket – An all-around great casual puffer for running to the store, hiking, or just about anything.

Pick Six Pants

  • Commando Faux Leather Leggings – Bought these leggings last year. I reviewed all the faux leather leggings in a recent post you can read here. The commando faux leather leggings look the most like real leather. Size up if in between sizes.  They suck you in a good way, but you don’t want to feel constricted.
  • Nilo Lotan Side Tape Crop Pants – There is just something effortlessly cool about these pants. I can imagine wearing them every day and not wanting to take them off.
  • rag & bone Simone Glen Plaid Pants – The Simone pant is a long time fan favorite. Nordstrom is offering them in Glen Plaid this year. I might just have to pick these up.
  • AG Caden Camo Crop – The Caden pants is one of my all-time favorite trousers. I have them in four different colors, but as a fan of camo, I am picking these up for sure!
  • Halogen Tie Waist Houndstooth Pants – Love the houndstooth but not sold on the tie waist. Of course, tie waist pants are everywhere this year, so if you are in the market for a good pair, these just might be the one.
  • Paige Cristy Cargo Pants – A girl can never have too many cargo pants! That is my firm belief. These Paige are good!

Pick Six Denim

  • Levi’s Ribcage Ankle Straight – I desperately want these pants. The styling is perfection with a black sweater and ankle boots. Ribcage could mean just under my breast because I am so short-waisted.
  • AG The Legging Ankle Skinny – AG jeans are consistently my favorites. Unlike other styles, the legging skinny tends to run a bit small. I usually size up for a little more comfort.
  • AG The Farrah High Waist Skinny – These will come home with me this sale. The light wash feels fresh for fall. I purchased a similar wash from Citizen of Humanity in a boyfriend style for summer.
  • rag & bone Dre Slim Boyfriend – My closet is full of every possible style of Dre. I reach for them again and again.
  • rag & bone Nina High Rise – Another great cut from r&b! Grey is my go-to for colored denim. I wear it more than any other color.
  • AG Mari High Slim Crop – Two styles stuck out as fall favorites: the cropped full or flair and denim in a light wash. This pair is an excellent option for flair denim. Again, AG is consistent with sizing and washes. You can’t go wrong.

Up next accessories, active, beauty, purses, and home. As soon as I receive my order, I will also do a try on session post and update out of stock and restocked items. Please check back often to see what is new. I have added a top-level menu for the NSale where all posts will be listed. What are your favorite items from the sale? I would love to hear from you.
