Leather is hot for fall! You could just pick up a leather jacket and ✔️ that box and call it a day. But that wouldn’t be any fun. The leather trend this season has way too many great pieces to stop at just one item. And when I say, leather, I mean leather or vegan leather or pleather or whatever floats your boat. For ease of this article I am going to use leather as a general term but will specifically let you know if something is real or faux.
Street style fashion from the recent, NYFW showcased the myriad of styles and colors of leather currently trending. The high fashion women had me drooling at all the stylish pieces. But let’s get real! Most fashion week, street style doesn’t fit into my everyday life. It doesn’t mean that I don’t want to be on trend. I just need the trend to fit into my lifestyle.
Great news! It is easy to add a little leather to your life. Just swap a couple of your favorite pieces with leather options. Leather will give your style an instant boost. Just like adding a leather jacket to your outfit can make you feel instantly cool, other leather pieces can take your look to the next level. For example, swap out your leggings for leather leggings. Button Down Leather Shirt
Swap your button down top for a leather shirt. My shirt is from & Other Stories. It is real leather and buttery soft. I am wearing a size 10 because I usually size up in shirts I want to wear as jackets but it runs way oversized and I would prefer an 8. This exact Leather Button Up Shirt is still available in Burgundy which is pretty darn awesome and the color is definitely on trend this year. In fact, & Other Stories selection of leather pieces is beyond good. You can also wear this shirt belted with your favorite one. Regardless if faux or real leather, a leather button down shirt is an investment piece. If you choose a classic style you can wear it for years to come.
Leather Tank Top
A faux leather tank top is a great way to add leather to your everyday outfits. The one I am wearing is the Faux Leather Tank Top from Theory and it is on sale at Nordstrom right now. This tank is so easy to dress up or wear with your everyday pieces. Below I have styled it several ways.
1. I added a blazer and wide leg crops which is a look that can take you from day to evening so easily. For daytime, keep your jewelry simple but at night swap out for accessories that make a statement.
2. I added boot cut jeans, red boots and a statement necklace for a fun concert going look.
3. For an everyday look, swap your average tank top for a faux leather version. Add your favorite kicks and you are ready to go. The tank just adds a little somethin’ somethin’ to your everyday look.
4. Add your favorite utility jacket for an extra layer of cool.

Leather Bottoms
Leather pants seem to elicit extreme reactions. You either like them or hate them. This year a fun way to add leather to your everyday look is to swap your leggings or pants for leather bottoms. There are so many options available. I eased into the leather legging look starting with Alo Yoga’s Airbrushed Leggings and then advancing to Spanx Faux Leather Leggings and finally buying at the Anni Sale Commando Faux Leather leggings. Who knew the Alo leggings were a gateway to full leather legging addiction??
Leather Pants
Zara is a great place for inexpensive faux leather pants. I recently picked up a pair after searching for months for a reasonable pair of faux leather joggers. Of course, as I sat to research products for this article, I found a pair of Michael Kors faux leather joggers (I’ll let you know if they are the perfect pair). Isn’t that the luck! There are so many fabulous ways to style leather leggings. Just swap your normal leggings for faux leather and you elevate your style by like a thousand.

No, really! Faux leather leggings are just cool! Look at Sandy in Grease. When she wanted to finally be cool, she swapped her bebop skirt for leather and instant cool! She didn’t actually take a drag from the cigarette which would definitely not be cool.
Faux leather pants or joggers can be worn dressed up so easily but it is just as simple to wear them for everyday. Just add your favorite tee and sneakers, leather pants can take you anywhere you need to go. Both faux leather and real leather pants add warmth to any outfit so skip on hot days! I mean, who doesn’t remember Ross and his leather pants from Friends. Every time I wear my leather leggings, my DD reminds me of that classic TV moment.

The leather trend is hot for fall! Leather clothing isn’t just for fashionistas anymore. It is so easy to add a little style with your favorite leather piece. You can start small and work your way up like I did or you can jump in head first. There are some amazing leather dresses if that fits your lifestyle. I am so excited for my faux leather joggers.
