Honest Review of Frame LeOne Jeans

I need another pair of jeans like Moira from Schitt’s Creek needs another wig. In other words, I don’t. But as the Covid 19lbs crept on and my fear of sizing up growing as quickly as my waistline, I became intrigued by Frame’s new one-size fits up to six sizes, Le One Skinny Jeans.

The Skinny

Frame’s Le One jeans are made of a revolutionary stretch fabric that molds to your body. The skinny jeans are available in size 1, which fits from size 23 -28, and size 2, which fits size 29 -34. The sizing left me in a conundrum. I am currently a size 29, but pre-Covid, I wear a size 28 about 50% of the time. So what size should someone like me buy? I ordered both sizes and have all the details on fit below. Here is what Frame says about their LeOne Skinny Jeans.

My first inclination was to go with the size 2. After months of leggings, I was worried about the shock the size 1 would have on my system. I mean, they are meant to fit a size 23-28, and I am outside that right now. The first thing I noticed is the denim is thick and obviously stretchy. The Caspio wash is the perfect light wash denim with no yellowing. I’m not fond of jeans that have been aged to look dirty.

When I first put the size 2 on, they felt like heaven. The denim is so stretchy and feels like your wearing your favorite pair of leggings. The Le One jeans were exactly what I was looking for when I had an ill-fated encounter with a pair of Spanx Jean-ish Leggings. The Jean-ish Leggings felt like I was wearing my MIL jeans: not really old-lady but definitely not hip either. Of course, my search for legging like jeans is likely rooted in my advancing age, but I will blame Covid as I do for everything else that has happened this year.

Immediately, I noticed that the waist was pretty large. Of course, to fit a size 29-34, it would have to be loose on the smaller end of that range. But as you can see from the picture below, the waist is really, really big and pretty stretchy. After doing knee bends and squats as I do in all jeans to see how they fit, I realized how much stretch these jeans actually have.

Because of the stretch, the bum (see pic below) looks o.k. in size 2. It was definitely comfortable and no major sag. How would it look after hours of wearing? I’m not sure. The oversized waist was a deal-breaker on the size 2. I also found the rise to be a bit long in the size 2. I am short-waisted, so this is a common problem for me. But the telltale sign a pair of jeans is too big is the bulge that develops in the wrong spot when you sit down. Likely on this pair, it results from the large waist causing the pants to fall down (see 2nd photo below). So back to Nordstrom, the size 2 goes.

There are two reasons why I tried on the size 1 jeans when I was really ready to give up: first, I had to research this article, and second I really want these jeans to work. The denim is thick, soft, stretchy, and the wash is divine. So I gathered my courage and pulled on the size 1 pair of Frame Le One Skinny Jeans.

The size 1 pair range is size 23-28. On a good day, I am a 28 but right now, definitely not. So I was surprised when the legs, thigh, and butt fit. I pulled them up easily. The stretch helped me button them without trouble, but I must tell you the waist is tight: not I can’t breathe tight but definitely snugger than I usually wear. As I mentioned, my advanced years soured me on anything too tight in the waist.

I did my whole knee bend, squat routine, and the jeans gave a little but still felt like a comfortable pair of jeggings. The waist is still snug, but I decided I’m keeping them. I figure the waist will stretch out with time. Of course, I have had only one occasion to wear them as CA is still mostly shut down, but I noticed they got more comfortable throughout the day. I think the bum looks pretty good too (see below).

When I had my unfortunate encounter with Spanx, I was looking for something that looked like jeans but felt like leggings. The Frame Le One jeans could be that pair if the waist stretches. For now, I will wear them like all of my jeans for “dress up” and going out.

I have high hopes that the Le One will be those jeans. The ones you don’t have to peel off after a long day of wearing. In the meantime, I picked up the rag & bone Miramar Sweatpants, which are sweatpants with a faux denim look, but that is a story for another day.

Conclusion

Overall, I was really impressed by the Frame Le One jeans. I was pretty skeptical going in that a pair of jeans available in only two sizes could look good on me. I came away pleasantly surprised and hopeful that I will get more chances to wear these jeans soon.

These might be the perfect jeans for you if you want that jeggings feel but with a traditional denim look. If you fall in the middle to the top end of the size range, these jeans will work well for you. I find it hard to believe my size 23 friends will find these jeans flattering, but I may be wrong. Honestly, most people I know who are size 23 are in the age group that just declared war on skinny jeans. So there’s that.

The Le One are available in three washes, but the light wash is so fresh for spring. One other note, as a tall girl, I really appreciate the 29″ inseam. Too often, jeans are too short. I know many of you have the opposite problem, but you can always make a pair shorter (BTW – these would work well hemmed), but you can’t make a pair longer.

The Frame Le One jeans are actually pretty amazing. I was skeptical that the two-size thing would work for me. I was pleasantly surprised to find not only do these jeans work, but they also look good and are incredibly comfortable (I still believe the waist will stretch, or I will lose a few of my Covid 19lbs).

One last thing – I definitely am not disparaging my MIL. She was an incredible woman who we lost to cancer way too early. Her fashion reminds me a lot of Moira Rose minus the wigs but likely a few hairpieces. Her style and her unconditional love inspire me to this day.

But seriously, why are you letting the people who you taught how to use a spoon tell you what style of jeans or what hair part is fashionable? And the best thing to do about the emojis is adopt their emojis just to drive them crazy.
