Whew! Thanksgiving and the subsequent sales knocked me on my butt, and when I got back up, it was almost Christmas. Seriously, folks, I had a significant bout of blog & shopping exhaustion. That and an impending life decision has left me overwhelmed. Of course, it didn’t last long. Just long enough to put me seriously behind on Xmas. Thankfully, I have been wrapping as I go, so I am pretty good on that end. Are you ready?
What brought me out of my stupor was running around the mall. Shopping inspired me to incorporate more holiday looks in my everyday outfits. We all have holiday separates in our closets from years gone by. I have pants, skirts, and dresses. So why not incorporate them in my every day look for a fun and festive style? You know the saying, “fake it until you make it.“? Well, this is a version of that. Dress like your in the holiday spirit and low and behold; you will end up in the spirit. Ok! Maybe not so catchy but just as real.
Because I am a pants person, I pulled out two pairs of pants from Xmas of yore. I chose pants because they are well within my comfort zone. The key to incorporating holiday elements into your everyday look is to stick with what works for you. I do have holiday skirts (because I collect separates for the holiday parties) but wearing skirts isn’t my jam, and whenever I wear them I feel too dressed up, which is fine for a party but doesn’t work for every day.

Every Day Holiday Outfits
1. Jacquard Red Pants + Cashmere Turtleneck + Booties
These pants were from Banana Republic several years ago. The cut is classic, and the jacquard fabric is perfect for the holidays. Jacquard is a highly textured fabric woven in different patterns, including brocade, damask, and tapestry. It has a natural shine that is holiday-ready. Every year, I pull out my jacquard pants and wear them in December. This year I am wearing the Equipment Cashmere Turtleneck, I picked up during the Black Friday sales.
I have wanted a good quality cashmere turtleneck for a couple of years now. Of course, my goal was to find one on sale. Last year, I missed out. So this year, I was so excited when Shopbop had their 30% off sale, I ordered two to try. The other one I ordered was the White + Warren Essential Cashmere Turtleneck. I am a massive fan of W+W cashmere. My most used wrap is W+W, but I felt the neck on their essential turtleneck was a bit bulky for me.
My boots are Marc Jacobs. I love the quilted detail and buckles. Heels or flats work too. Wear this holiday outfit with your favorite blazer or leather jacket. I am wearing the Everlane Oversized Blazer and with my new leather jacket from IRO. Either option works for an evening out with friends or your holiday lunch at the office.
2. Jacquard Red Pants + White Tee + Denim Jacket + Sneakers
I am a fan of contrasts in fashion: leather + silk, combat boots + dress, etc. The contrast of jacquard pants + sneakers is another contrast that works. I am wearing my holiday pants with a plain white tee. It is one of my Three Tees You Need in Your Closet. I topped it off with my Madewell Denim Jacket, but if you live in a colder climate, you could add your favorite oversized cardigan or one of the jackets above.
New Favorite Sneaker Brand
My shoes are Golden Goose Deluxe Brand. GGDB is quickly becoming my favorite sneakers. I know they are expensive, but I dare say they are worth it. Golden Goose has an internal wedge heel, which is great for those of us with foot issues who can’t wear flat shoes comfortably. Their sneakers are pre-distressed, so you don’t have to worry about ruining the finish. They are pre-wrecked! I know it sounds strange, but I have some designer sneakers which I scuffed the tip, and it makes me sad every time I look at them.
My favorite style is the Super Star. I have the High Star style too, but I don’t find them to be as comfortable. I’ve heard they are better worn without socks, but yuck! So I passed them on to my daughter, who somehow can wear no show socks without them driving her crazy.

3. Plaid Leggings + Oversized Sweater + Denim Jacket
Last year, I picked up the Sanctuary Plaid Leggings to wear for the Xmas. I am all about comfort, especially during the busiest time of the year. You know I am a firm believer that leggings are pants, and Sanctuary agrees with me. I am wearing the leggings with the J.Crew Oversized Crew in Supersoft Yarn from last year. I wish J.Crew would bring back this style. They do have other options in Supersoft Yarn, including turtlenecks and now a zip hoodie. J.Crew is right. The yarn is super soft! It is also cozy and the perfect weight.
I added the Madewell Oversized Denim Jacket. The sweater is bulky, so an oversized coat or jacket works best. Madewell has the best denim jackets for the price. You can pick them up on sale. They wash well and last forever.
My boots are the rag & bone Shawn Chelsea Boots. I love, love, love them! The lug sole is on-trend, and these boots are the perfect combination of traditional + edgy. I reach for them over and over again. They work with everything from leggings to dresses.

4. Plaid Leggings + Camisole + Blazer + Heels
You can dress plaid leggings up too if you so desire. I added a cream camisole and a structured blazer. Because I am in CA, I can get away with slingback heels even in December, but if your weather isn’t so mild, you could easily wear with heeled booties. The look works because the blazer is tapered but long enough to cover my bum.

Holiday Countdown
Now that I’ve added a few holiday pieces to my everyday wardrobe, I feel more in the holiday spirit. This weekend we made sugar cookies that we will decorate on Xmas Eve, which is our family tradition. Hopefully, my poor little guy will be feeling better by then as he was diagnosed with the flu on Tuesday. Now we are all on Tamiflu and hoping that the rest of us avoid it. The time at home has allowed me to catch up on wrapping, and now I am almost done.
Even though Christmas snuck up on me, I am excited for time with my family. As for my life decision, I will be filling you in, to some extent, in the new year. When I started this blog, I promised myself that I would share not just the good but the truth of my life. I want to balance that with my introvert nature. When I find that balance, I will surely share my thoughts and decisions with you.
I would love it if you followed me on Instagram for my everyday outfits or on Pinterest for my fashion inspiration. StyleDahlia is for fashion-minded women in the prime of their life. We delight in the beauty of every day, and we hope you will join us on our journey. Happy Shopping Dahlias.
