11 Halloween Decoration I’m Loving

11 Halloween Decorations I'm Loving

Can you believe it is almost October? Last year went by slow as molasses, but this year is flying by in a blink. We are now to the lightning round of 2021, with holidays stretched out in front of us. Halloween is always a fun one. Each year we help work our friends’ haunted house. They go all out, and since they had to forgo the festivities last year, this year should be over the top.

I generally control the crowd and manage the line. So yes, there are both. My husband, good sport that he is, helps with the haunt. My kids have always enjoyed it, but my son now prefers time with his friends, and my daughter cannot go out on Halloween because of a potential adrenaline rush (darn POTS).

So to get in the spirit, I rounded up my favorite Halloween decorations. Do you go really scary? Or more fun? I am firmly on the side of fun. I’m not fond of anything too scary or too gory. That is why I don’t work in the haunted house. Fun personal fact: I have not watched any scary movies. The scariest movie I watched as a kid was Poltergeist, and I realized I hate those types of movies.

11 Halloween Decorations Your Neighbors Will Love

  • Giant 20′ Spider – I have serious arachniphobia, but Halloween is for spiders. Actually, the bigger they are, the less scary they are unless it is the spiders in Harry Potter, and then I am still scared.
  • Spooky Feathers Wreath – This feather wreath is beautiful in an eerie sort of way.
  • Skull Candy Bowl – Do you get to trick or treaters? We don’t anymore. Our neighborhood has aged out. But a spooky candy bowl is a must for those who do.
  • Halloween Decorative 12″ Lantern – This is on the lighter side of Halloween. I love to use lanterns or paper Luminaries to light my walkway for Halloween.
  • Pumpkin Lanterns – Use these fun pumpkin lanterns in your entryway, on your dining table, or your mantle. Perfect for indoors.
  • Crashing Witch Decoration – Every. Single. Time. I see this decoration; it always makes me smile. It is so clever.
  • Enter if You Dare Doormat – If you want a little something-something to get in the holiday spirit, how about a doormat?
  • Ceramic Skull Planter – This is cool for any time of year but works perfectly for setting the Halloween spirit.

Halloween Fun

Most of our kids are grown and flown or teenagers who don’t care about Halloween, but it is always fun to get into the holiday spirit. If you already have grandkids, these items have a low scare factor for the toddlers and young kids in your life.

It is essential to keep that sense of fun and wonder about us as we age. So if you love Halloween, then go all out for it, even if it is just for you. As Mencius said, “Great is the human who has not lost his childlike heart.”
